Davidson upsets No. 4, 10-0 Westerville South in opening round game
The Westerville South football team produced an undefeated regular season and earned the No. 1 seed in Division I Region 3, only to be upset by Hilliard Davidson 45-35 on Nov. 1 in the opening round of the playoffs.
Davidson sophomore tailback Christen Haywood rushed for 215 yards and four touchdowns on 28 carries after totaling (minus)-5 yards on six carries in a 28-7 loss to South in an OCC-Central Division contest on Oct. 10.
South had posted five shutouts in the regular season and had allowed more than seven points only twice -- in victories over Upper Arlington (28-21 on Sept. 12) and Springfield South (43-23 on Aug. 29).
